It took me a few months to be able to tell our story, but God has continued to give us examples of how this was not about us... but about something GREATER!  So here is our story...

Our journey began in September 2016 when we found out we were expecting. We were beyond excited to have a new baby to join our families and truly "blend" us! How perfect was life... a new marriage, new home, new experiences, and now a new baby! We prayed for this miracle after experiencing multiple losses, but to our surprise our "blessing did not come in the packaging we expected."  As we began mentally preparing for this new addition, since we were adding another to the bunch of four :-), each month and each appointment brought us closer to our bundle and we could not be happier. Until we went to our genetic appointment in December 2016 and found out that there were indicators of Trisomy issues. We were devastated, but again called on God to bring us through. That had to be the longest weekend we ever had! We waited patiently for the Dr to give us the results of our full screening hoping all the while that we would hear good news and there was a mistake initially. Well, as you can imagine, we did not get that news. On a Sunday morning we got confirmation, that our baby had Trisomy 18. With tears in our eyes, and a swelling heart we asked the Dr. "Can you tell us the sex?", and he replied "Male"... IT was at that moment that I felt defeated. I felt the Devil had finally won, he figured out a way after all these years to steal MY JOY! But then God revealed himself and I came in contact with friends and strangers that shared our story, our pain, our understanding, and I got my JOY back! With each week that went by I enjoyed our son and the journey we were on because no matter what was going to happen, I could see that God was planning to use me through this. What I also did not realize was that God still answered our prayers! All we wanted was to meet our son, to hold him, and in January 2017 we were able to do just that. Although he was stillborn at only 21 weeks, we saw our precious little angel Isaiah David Smith, and remembered that it is not about us...it is about God's plan. So now we want to be a vessel for other families that may have experienced this or may in the future to raise awareness for these little lives and hopefully one day they find a way to prevent this disorder.

Please join us on May 6th as we walk in honor of Isaiah! If you are unable to walk, please consider donating in his honor. We are Team Isaiah!

Thank you,

His loving parents...
